Woman who went with Lewis and Clark on their expedition? I was a guide to lead Lewis and Clark through Indian territories. I was born in Idaho, between 1789 and 1790 and grew up in the Rocky Mountains. My dad was a Shoshone chief. I was kidnapped when I was a small girl by a different tribe. When I was a teenager I was forced to get married. I married a French fur trader named Toussaint Charbonneau (Too sant shar buh no). Lewis and Clark asked me to join them because I knew different languages and showed others we meant PEACE. I had two children a boy and a girl, and my 1st son, Jean Baptiste was born on the trip. Without my help, Lewis and Clark would have never gotten through their expedition.
