The
annual Wayne State Business Competition Day was held on Thursday, April 10th.
Thirteen students from Osmond attended the competition; they were: Lacy
Johnson, Kelsey Stech, Rebecca Schmit, Gabe Gubbels, Michele Weeder, Brandon
Koehler, Brandon Weeder, Brad Wallick, Alex Gansebom, Adam Miller, Carly Schmit,
Emily Brummels, and Sydney Brummels.
Other students competing, but not attending were: Kelsey Nuesch, Lara Stange,
Adrian Kumm, and Emily Haselhorst.
Competition began at 9:00 a.m. and continued through the
morning and early afternoon, with the college bowl finals taking place at l:30
p.m. Events that Osmond students participated in included: Accounting I,
Accounting II, Business Communications, Business Comprehensive Knowledge,
Filing, Business Math, Keyboarding I and II, Computer Literacy and Web Wizardry. According to event coordinator, Dr.
Patricia Arneson, this event is the largest academic competition held on the
Wayne State College Campus. The School of Business and Technology, Pi Omega Pi
business education honorary, Phi Beta Lambda, Delta Sigma Pi and the Association
of Computer Machinery sponsor it.
Presentation of awards followed the college bowl. During the
Awards Presentation, Lacy Johnson and Kelsey Stech received a 4th place ribbon in the
Web Wizardry event, Brad Wallick placed 2nd in Computer Literacy, and Carly
Schmit received a 2nd place
ribbon in the Sales Presentation event.
There were 22 schools in attendance and Osmond ranked 7th
overall.
The Advanced Computer
class created a mock robotics competition
web site to be submitted for judging.
