Bill is the fourth administrator since the service unit was started in 1967. Prior to coming to ESU 8 Bill was employed as Superintendent of Schools at Grand Island Northwest for 11 years. Bill was also the Superintendent of Osmond public Schools for 12 years, District 38 administrator for 8 years, and began his teaching career in 1976 at Neligh-Oakdale Public schools. He feels returning to Neligh for this part of his career was like coming home.
During his time as a superintendent he served on the Advisory Boards for ESU 10 and ESU 8. Interest in ESU’s were formulated through those earlier experiences and continue today serving on the Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council, the Coop Committee, and the Finance Committee.
Bill’s primary responsibilities include overseeing department heads for our 11 departments and 4 learning centers. Other duties include oversight on legislative issues and working to enhance opportunities for Northeast Nebraska through the NNNC. The NNNc is a collaboration with ESU’s 1, 2, 7, & 17 to strengthen opportunities for our districts and students.
