INTERNET SAFETY AND DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP CONTEST

Internet Safety graphicRachael Hornback and Stephanie Nemec, both 8th graders from O'Neill Public School were chosen as the winners of the ESU #8 Internet Safety and Digital Citizenship Contest. Their submission consisted of a 29 second video Public Service Announcement (PSA).

Runners-Up were Brian Finkral, also an 8th grader from O'Neill Public School and a sixth grade team from Pierce Public School made up of Dalton Polt, Charles Krueger, and Mariekel Blake.

The Nebraska ESU's partnered with the Nebraska Attorney General's Office to sponsor the Internet Safety/Digital Citizenship Contest for students in Nebraska’s K-12 Schools. Each school or district was allowed to submit one entry from each grade grouping (K-4, 5-8, 9-12) for a total of three entries per school. Entries were to be in the form of a poster, an audio Public Service Announcement (PSA), or a video PSA.

Rachael and Stephanie’s winning PSA was taken to Lincoln to be judged by the ESU Technology Affiliate Group among the other ESU winning entries. A winning entry from each category which reflects an Internet Safety theme will be selected and sent on to the Attorney General’s office for additional recognition.

All three ESU #8 winning PSAs have been posted on the ESU #8 homepage (www.esu8.org) for viewing.
