University Nebraska Omaha. She was a front lines teacher and library
media specialist for 24 years, and has been the recipient of awards
for teaching and service in both K-12 and Higher Education areas.

Nebraska Author, Dennis Vossberg traces the Hector
Dixon family from his early days as
a slave in Virginia, and his wife’s harrowing escape to the North
as a young girl, through his writing of Hector’s Bliss. You can

It's an exciting new historical novel about a small band of black
homesteaders, mostly ex-slaves, who settled in northern Wheeler County,
Nebraska, near Goose Lake after the Civil War.

Have A Place In Schools
This session will cover iPod “how to” and give ideas about
their use in your schools.

A session to review PowerMediaPlus, a state-of-the-art digital media
solution to easily integrate standards-based multimedia into your school
and curriculum. With PowerMediaPlus, all teachers and students in Nebraska

curriculum-oriented audio files, 5,000 print resources, and an unsurpassed

This session will review the mylearning Community Group, MediaNebraska.
This online group, is a comprehensive site to discover content for 21st
Century literacies - Visual, Media, Information, Multicultural and Electronic
Media specialists in Nebraska have access |
to the site, which includes websites, discussion and files to support
incorporating multiple literacies in the classroom.

to L.E.A.R.N.S.
This session will review the online site used by classroom teachers
to evaluate titles (video and digital) held by the Educational Service
Units in Nebraska. The reviews can be searched and read to determine
best choice for titles aligned to Nebraska standards.
NetTrekker
Hands on demonstration for a Search Engine tool. netTrekker's controlled
indexing takes the fear out of Internet searches. For example, students
doing a netTrekker d.i. keyword search on “kittens” will
find a variety of websites + images relating to baby cats. This does
not always happen with other search engines! It also features: Over
180, 000 safe, reliable student-friendly websites; Image Search over
84,000 images; Costumized Billingual / ESL websites and resources; website
readability measures; Dictionary / Translation Hot Key.
Nebraska
Author Joie Taylor who is a media specialist from Columbus,
Nebraska discusses her book “Information Literacy and the
School Library Media Center”. This book is an overview to
teaching information literacy skills beginning with a history of the
development of the usage of the term. Chapters include: Collaboration;
Flexible Schedule; Process Learning; and Assessment among other important
topics.
