Featuring ESU #8 Distance Learning Director, Nigel Buss!
Nigel Buss has been employed by Educational Service Unit 8 for the past 30 years. In the fall of 1978, Nigel was hired to launch the ESU 8 Art Services and Programs Department and serve as the Art Teacher/Consultant. With the start of the 1988 school year, Nigel established the ESU 8 Gifted and Talented Department serving as Teacher/ Consultant. In 1996, when ESU 8 and our K-12 school districts established their distance learning consortiums, Nigel "stepped" into the role of Director for the ESU 8 Distance Learning Center.
Nigel graduated from Yankton College with a B.A. in Fine Arts Education, a M.A. in Art Education from University of Nebraska at Kearney with a K-12 teaching endorsement in Art Education, and a K-12 teaching endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education.
Before joining ESU 8, Nigel taught Art and Speech at Crofton High School. He also taught Art at Beatrice High School. While at Crofton High School Nigel coached their Speech Team and "One-Act Plays" for conference and state competitions. Also, at Crofton High School he was Assistant Coach in Football and Basketball.
