this means for you as a teacher, is that you can now mainstream
the titles from Power Media Plus. To access this list of titles,
login at: http://www.powermediaplus.com
After logging in, at the
search box next to GO, type the term: *Nebraska own*. Be sure to
use the star-shaped symbol (asterisks) before and after the term. |

NEBRASKA READING ASSOCIATION

at Wayne State College
Talented young authors will be rewarded with
a fun morning, an opportunity to showcase their writings, and a
chance to meet a published author, Rajean Luebs Shepherd, author
of C is for Cornhusker.
The guidelines for the festival are:
- Each
school building may send 2 students. Participating grades are
K-6. Cost is $10.00/school if your school has a teacher who belongs
to the Nebraska Reading Association or $15/school if no membership.
The students will be honored at a noon luncheon. Cost of the
luncheon is $10/person. Some schools choose to pay for the students.
Attendance at the luncheon is not mandatory.
- Participants must be
accompanied by an adult.
- Manuscripts may be
typed, or handwritten and must be a final copy – not
a rough draft. They may include illustrations.
- This is not a contest,
but a sharing festival. Students will read their manuscripts
in small group sessions.
- There is no set topic for compositions
- prose or poetry. Manuscripts should be from the current school
year.
- Selection is determined by your school. Some
schools send one student from primary and one from upper grades.
Some schools send two students from upper grades.
- Deadline for receiving
manuscripts is April 3, 2010.
Manuscripts, money for the festival,
and money for luncheon reservations should be sent to Anne Sty;
