You Could Be Nebraska’s Teacher of the Year for 2009!
Application forms for the 2009 Nebraska Teacher of the Year are available through your superintendent or principal. It is also available on the ESU #8 homepage.
Applications must be completed and postmarked by midnight, August 18, 2008. A selection panel will review the applications, and the four or five teachers receiving the highest scores will be advanced. Finalists will be interviewed during October, and the Teacher of the Year will be selected from those finalists.

| The ESU #8 Elementary Art Show was held April 11-16th with over 300 attendees.
In recognition of ESU #8's 40th year of service to schools, former ESU #8 Art Consultant, Ray Ahrens, judged the entries. Ray started the ESU #8 Art Program in 1969.

Fourth grade student Jordan Murray was awarded the Lower Elementary Best of Show award. Ray is pictured above placing the ribbon on Jordan’s artwork.
Fifth grader, MacKenzie Wiseman received the Upper Elementary Best of Show honor. Ray is placing her ribbon on her artwork below.

Both artists are students of Mary Pfanstiel at Neligh-Oakdale.

The ESU #8 High School Art Show was held in Neligh at the Riverside Park Pavillion from April 21st - 23rd. There were over 800 pieces on display from 16 schools. These schools included: Battle Creek, Clearwater, Elgin, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Madison, Neligh-Oakdale, Norfolk Junior High, Norfolk Senior High, O'Neill, Orchard, Plainview, Pope John, Stanton, Verdigre, and West Holt.

Randel Anderson, Artist and Instructor from Norfolk, judged the show. He chose an oil painting (pictured below)
as the Best of Show. The artist is Ciera Kracl, a senior at O'Neill Public. Her Art Instructor is Kevin McNichols.
Randel Anderson also gave out eleven Outstanding Merit ribbons. Pictures of these pieces have been posted to the ESU #8 Art Department web page. |
