Nebraska State Council for Social Studies
Fall Conference

November 2 - 3, 2007
Doane College in Crete, Nebraska.

Friday’s highlights include luncheon speaker, Dr. Stephen Joel, Superintendent of Grand Island Public schools. Dinner speaker will be Peter Fredlake from the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC.

Four five hour sessions including “The War That Made America” presented by Dr. Jim Wetsler from Pennsylvania.

Saturday’s sessions will include numerous breakouts presented by noted Social Studies teachers on the topics of International Education, technology and teaching strategies for all Social Studies teachers.

This workshop will include updates on Career Field/Cluster Implementation, Course Codes, Endorsement process. It also entails developing materials for either “Introduction to Human Services and Resources” or “Life and Career Essentials” class.

Each participant MUST bring either:

• Copies of a teaching strategy (something you have designed/used in class successfully) or resource to share with other teachers.... OR
• A favorite textbook or instructional resource (simulation, video, etc.)
