Introducing
two- and three-dimensional figures by drawing, tracing, building
on a geoboard, and making figures with popsicle sticks is the
type of geometry students want to get their hands on! You will
absolutely enjoy this workshop!
As
a result of this workshop, your students will:
- know
and understand the meaning of the words two dimensional and
three dimensional;
- recognize,
name, build, and draw the representations of two- and three-dimensional
figures;
- know
and name the attributes of and the relationships between two-
and three-dimensional figures;
- recognize
geometric shapes and structures in their environment and specify
their locations.
About
the Presenters: Thinking Strategies for Mastering Mathematics
is a consulting business offering professional staff development
workshops for elementary educators. Jean Valer and Jane Haught,
with the guidance of Dr. David Harpster and Dr. Lori Geller,
have written nine supplementary math textbooks and have presented
their research validated materials and methods to over 10,000
teachers in an eight state area since 1991.

permanent marker, 50 unlined 3 by 5 cards, 4 self-sealing bags,
50 popsicle sticks, 5 rubber bands, scissor, 10 tabbed dividers
