Gloria Christiansen, ESU #8 Step Up to Writing Regional Trainer will present this three-day workshop.

OVERVIEW OF PROGRAM:

This Step Up to Writing Training is designed for Grades 3-6 educators including: Title I, Special Education, ELL, elementary classroom teachers, content specialists and elementary principals.

The training, written by Maureen Auman, uses multi-sensory, classroom-proven teaching strategies and student writing activities to improve writing. It is designed to give educators practical, and helpful instruction about writing assignments, assessments, and everyday writing tasks. Strategies and applications will be practiced for teaching students to write clear, organized paragraphs, reports, and essays, personal narratives, stories and creative pieces.

NOTE: Day One is a prerequisite to Day Two and Day Three.

REQUIRED MANUAL: The 3rd Edition Step Up to Writing Manual must be ordered and purchased by the school district prior to the workshop. Contact SoprisWest.com (or at 800.547.6747) to order your training manual.

Classroom sets used with students to support the teacher guide strategies are the responsibility of the school. The posters, handy pages and tools help students complete important academic tasks. The Tools combine strategies explained in the Teacher’s Guide with reproducible pages that match the strategies. Students learn to track their success by using scoring guides and quick check forms to monitor their progress.

WORKSHOP COST: $20.00 Registration Fee for ESU #8 teachers and $25.00 for teachers outside ESU #8. Training packet fee is included in the $20.00 registration fee. (The Step Up to Writing Teachers Guide must be purchased by the school district prior to the workshop.)
