O’Neill Public Schools Language Arts Third Grade

 

Third Grade Purpose Statement: All third grade students will comprehend grade appropriate written text.  They will write a paragraph with proper mechanics and usage.  They will utilize information before a group.  They will access information using resources.

 

LA-3-1 Students will develop their vocabularies in order to read a variety of third grade materials. (4.1.2)

 

LA-3-1-1 Memorize and define weekly spelling words taken from a teacher-generated list and/or published list. (4.2.1)

 

LA-3-1-2 Use new words correctly in a variety of situations (controlled vocabulary from guided reading lessons and daily oral language activities.) (4.1.1) (4.1.2)

 

LA-3-1-3 Pronounce and read compound words, possessives, and words containing suffixes. (4.1.2)

 

LA-3-1-4 Construct contractions with apostrophes.
