Jordan Peterson, an O'Neill High School senior, was named Digital Student of the Year on Saturday, April 19th at the 2008 Digies Awards. Sponsored by Apple Computers, this award competition highlights the best in K-12 student digital arts projects across the state of Nebraska. Jordan has received recognition at the Digies in his last five years of participation of the Digies' 6-year history. This year, Jordan's work was recognized in four different projects in four different categories. This was an outstanding honor that is not even awarded every year. Jordan is definitely deserving. Congratulations!

Jordan competed in the Nebraska State Speech Meet on Tuesday, March 18th. He placed FIRST in Serious Prose and Fifth in Humorous Prose. Below is a video of him receiving the GOLD MEDAL! |

Meeting Billy Joel!
I had the best experience of my life on April 28th. We had the chance to meet Billy Joel backstage at the Qwest Center in Omaha before he went onstage. It was the best performance I have ever seen and it made me want to be a professional entertainer even more. He was the nicest, most down-to-earth guy you would want to meet. There are photos on my photo page. What a day!
A Showcase of Nebraska Talent at the
Galaxy of Stars Talent Search
(August, 2006)LINCOLN –Nebraska’s brightest in the Galaxy of Stars Talent Search were chosen Sunday at the Nebraska State Fair. The Nebraska State Fair and Vision Productions, Inc. presented the 2nd Annual Galaxy of Stars Talent Search at the Open Air Auditorium. Contestants tap-danced, clogged, juggled and sang to the delight of thousands on hand throughout the day.
The Galaxy of Stars Talent Search held semi-final competitions from 1pm- 6pm on Sunday, September 3, 2006 followed by the finals from 8pm-11pm. Winners received total cash prizes of $2000.00, handcrafted mirrored plaques courtesy of Dee Lichtenberger, owner of Laser Art Design, photo sessions and an 8x10 photo courtesy of Russ Hansen Photography and Fine Art Studio and $3000.00 in recording sessions courtesy of Mike and Dawn Chavanu, owners of Upper Room Recording Studio in Kearney. “The Galaxy of Stars Talent Search is a spectacular showcase of pure Nebraska talent,” said Christine Rasmussen, Marketing Director. “State Fair Park is proud to host the finals at the 2006 Nebraska State Fair.”
