Muhammed Ali
Project by Matt M.
February 2000

Hi! I’m Muhammad Ali. I’m famous for boxing. I was born in Louisville, Kentucky on January 18, 1942.  My real name was Cassius Clay but I changed it to Muhammad Ali.  I was raised in a small house.  My great-great-grandfather had been a slave.  Then I signed up to box.
At first I thought that it was just for fun.  Until I turned professional and by 1963 I had won 19 fights.  I won 100 out of 108 matches before becoming the Light-Heavyweight Gold Medallist in the 1960 Olympics.
Then a war started and the U.S. Army wanted me to fight. I refused to fight because it was against my religion. I had to go to jail for 5 years. After 5 years in jail I went to box Joe Fraizer and I lost my title belt in 1971 from him. I regained my title in 1974 by knocking George Foreman in Zaire, Africa. After that I have won 56 times, 5 losses, with 37 knock outs, that is good to me.
During my life I had nine children.
Later on in my life I got Parkinson’s disease from getting hit in the head so many times.
Here are some quotes I said, “float like a butterfly, sting like a bee.” “It’s just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand.  I just beat people up."" The man who has no imagination has no wings."" I'm a baaaadd man!!" I am still alive. I will be glad to answer your questions, and thank you for coming.
