by O'Neill Elementary Fifth graders, March 2005
To try writing of a different genre, each fifth grade student self-selected a book to review during 4th quarter Language Arts class.  Writing techniques such as organization (leads and conclusions), sentence fluency, and not giving away too much information were emphasized.  Final drafts of book reviews were published downtown at the O'Neill Public library where patrons could peruse a copy of the reviews while making book selections in the adolescent section of the library.  Read some of this year's reviews by clicking on the following buttons.

Good children's literature appeals not only to
the child in the adult, but to the adult in the child.
