If you are ever looking for a good book to read pick up a copy of White Fang by Jack London. White Fang is half dog, half wolf living in the 1800s in Canada. He spends his puppy years in the wild until he found by Gray Beaver. As soon as he starts to like Gray Beaver he is sold to a cruel master that forces him to fight other dogs. He is beat often just to make him mean and he is not allowed to sleep. But one day a man stops his fight and takes him. Could this be another cruel master or is there hope for White Fang. White Fang is a terrific book for all ages.
