Today's Race Report:
It's Monday Morning. Either your tired from staying up late last night (which
is a big NO NO) or your hyper with energy from getting enough
SLEEP!!!!!!! Wake up sleepyheads time to get ready for your first
rotation! You too nonsleepyheads.
Guess what? It's time for Language Arts! We started Language Arts off by
doing journal warm-up. Today journal warm-up was different we didn't write
a paragraph. We wrote about things that were important to us.
Then, we took one special thing we wrote about and put it in a writing
web. We're going to take that thing and write about it soon. Mrs. Morrow
read CRASH to us. The author Jerry Spinelli, is 5th grade's author of
the month. Some people got to start to type or write (nicely) their memoirs
(which have been put off a while). Mrs. Morrow beamed M.U.G shot sentences
(witch we learn how to write sentences correctly). Example: '' I've been waiting for hours'' Amy complained. ''Where have you been''
Corrected: ''I've been waiting for hours,'' Amy complained. ''Where have
you been?'' Do you see the changes? If you can't look closer. The word
of the day was GRIM. It means frightful or alarming.
Hey5th graders! Want to get ahead start in Language Arts? You can work
on the next workbook pages.
For Social Studies we watched a movie and half of another movie. The
first movie talked about the California Indians. The movie showed us how
they survived and their culture. The movie also showed us a game that
they played. The second movie talked about the Southwestern Indians. The
next movie showed us how the Navajo Indians and the Indians around them
survived and the movie showed us their clothes in detail. Sometime this
week we will watch the other half of the movie.
3.72 hundredths rounded to
the tenths is um um um 3.7 tenths. Time for you to see how you did
on your 1.5 math summative test. Mrs. Young gave everyone's test back to
see how they did. Also in Math Mrs. Young gave a us a sheet that had problems
about the things we are going to study in the next chapter. If
anyone misses two or less that person and anyone else will be able to do
other harder actives while the other people do easier activities.
Should I get yogurt, mini corndogs, or the large pretzel with melted
cheese? Well, today one of those foods we could have for lunch with a
choice of milk and salad bar.Mmmmmmm. Yum!
Like every day we get a 20 minute recess just like everyone else. No
class get more a special treatment not even the sixth graders! 20
minutes is not long so enjoy it like every other day. Study, study, study because it is study hall. A time of quietness when you can finish homework you did not finish in class. So shhhhhhhhhhhhh! For
third rotation we read chapter 25 to 28 of "HOLES" while some
read "LOSER." Then we did our reading sheets. I
was the connector, it was hard. After reading we made play-dough
brains. That was squishy in my hands! Then we wrote about the
different parts of the brains.
Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding! Time to go home. Don't forget
anything. You don't want to start tomorrow off by pulling a card! So be
prepared for another day in O'Neill Elementary School.
