Today's Race Report:

Our first "regular" day of classes started out on a positive note!  We rotated into our scheduled 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rotations, as well as P.E. or Music, depending on our schedules.

Every teacher wanted to show us what cool things we are going to learn this year in their class.

In Language Arts, Mrs. Morrow told us our motto will be "Read, Write, and Think!"  She explained many projects we will be undertaking as well as many learning tools we'll use in Lang. Arts.  After all the rules, rewards, and journal preparation we got to listen to Hooray for Diffendoofer Day by Dr. Seuss where we were once again reminded of the importance of learning "how to THINK!" and not just the answers to questions.

In Reading we designed bookmarks to keep track of the books we read independently.

In Science we heard a guest speaker who spoke on "Tar Wars" and the dangers of smoking.

In Social Studies we went over rules, played a get-to-know-you game and used globes and maps to get used to the subject area.

Finally, in Math we heard the fabulously funny story by Jon Sciescka called Math Curse.  I don't think we'll be cursed this year with Mrs. Young as a teacher!

In Specials time 5A finished their PowerPoint presentations about their first day as fifth graders. Mrs. Morrow was amazing with how quickly they caught on to the new features of XP. We can't wait to show our presentations to each other!
