2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia

Mission: You are the director of a travel agency marketing trips to the 200 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Your job is to prepare three travel packages for customers to choose from along with advertising to support your sale. You have decided to prepare packages for three different budgets- Economy, Middle, and Premiere packages. For each you must create a spreadsheet listing the options included as well as total package price. Finally, the three spreadsheets should be pasted into a travel brochure, complete with images and advertising to catch the buyer's eye. Good luck!

Steps to Completion:

Visit the websites listed below. Be sure to gather information on the events of the Olympics and ticket prices, as well as sights to see while in Sydney, and finally any images you may wish to use for your final product.

(Note: These are just a start. You may wish to do some searching on your own.)

Prepare your spreadsheet for each package using Microsoft Excel. You may use the sample template by clicking here to view. You will need to adjust the categories to fit your needs and insert the formulas yourself. Here are a few items to include (but you may include more or less depending on the package you are preparing).

Prepare your advertising brochure using Microsoft Publisher. You can copy and paste your spreadsheets into the columns, making sure to add plenty of description and explanation. Remember the more "eye-appealing," the more likely you are to get your sale, therefore use plenty of images, photos, and WordArt for headings.

Self-Assessment: Answer the following questions in complete sentences showing what you have learned throughout this project.

  1. What was the most valuable lesson you learned throughout the completion of this project?

  4. Name three things taking place at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia that you did not know before starting this project.
  5. Were the prices less than you expected or more than you expected? Explain why.
  6. If you were looking for a travel package to purchase, name the top three factors that would influence you into choosing one over another.
