Intro to Computer Concepts

SPREADSHEET BASICS

· Rows (1,2,3, etc.)

· Columns (A, B, C, etc.)

· Cells (intersection of a row and column)

· Named by the column 1^st, then the row (B5)

· Movement in a spreadsheet

· Click on the cell you want (no cursor)

· TAB to the next cell to the right

· Use the arrow keys to move from cell to cell

· ENTER gets you nowhere

· Manipulating the cells

· To change the size, get a double-headed arrow by placing the mouse pointer on a line in the gray heading area, and click and drag

· Selecting cells

· To select one cell, click on it

· To select an entire row or column, click on the row or column header

· To select multiple cells, click and drag (the very first cell will not appear black)

· File – Page Setup

· Source, Size and Orientation: changes paper direction

· Other Options: prints gridlines and/or column and row headers
