WARM-UP ACTIVITY

(hints are listed in italics below each step)

 

1.  Open up Microsoft Works and get into a blank sheet of paper

(Start - Programs - Microsoft Works - Start a blankWord Processor)

 

2.  Format your font so that it is 16 point, Comic Sans.

(Format - Font)

 

3.  Type “QUIZ” and bold and center it.

(Highlight “QUIZ” and press the B button and the center alignment button)

 

4. Press ENTER 2 times and make sure the Left Alignment button is back on.

 

5. Type your name and press ENTER 2 more times.

 

6.  Turn on your numbered list and answer the following questions, hitting return after each one:

          1) What is today’s date?

          (Insert - Date and Time)

          2) What holiday is celebrated on March 17?  Type your answer in GREEN.           (Highlight text - Format - Font)

3)     BONUS! Use the calculator to find the answer to 927 + 648.  Close the calculator and type your answer.

7. Select your numbered list and double-space it.

(Highlight the whole list - Format - Paragraph - Line Spacing - Double)

 

8.     Insert a picture of your choice, resize accordingly, and center it

(Insert – Picture – ClipArt – use the ‘handles’ – Center Alignment button)

 

9. Put a border around your entire page.

(Format - Borders and Shading - Page Tab – Select a style and a color)

 

10.  Do a SPELL-Check!

(ABC button with the checkmark)

 

11.  Save the document as ‘Quiz’ and Print it.

(File- Save As - 3 1/2 Floppy A:.... then File-Print and change the printer.)
