After a successful Open House on Friday afternoon, the young "knights-in-training" reported to their respective kingdoms for the first day of their "Fifth Grade QUEST."  Students were welcomed with the nervous anticipation of a new school year by the fictional character "Leon Ziesel" in Leon and the Spitting Image by Allen Kurzweil.  Basic introductions, rules and procedures, and sharing of our summers provided most of the content of the day.  Mrs. Shane addressed the entire school at our first all-school assembly and reminded us of our school-wide "Code of Chivalry" this school year:  

In the 5a homeroom, we created "coats of arms" to share our heraldry and personal interests.  The individual crests we created are hanging on our lockers. 

Before we were dismissed at 1:30 p.m., we enjoyed listening to more of Leon. We are so excited for the many adventures that await us on this quest of learning....fifth grade.
