Today's Scribe: Mrs. Morrow

Today on our Quest: Photos from our Adventures:

Was today a 9 3/4 day for you?  Many fifth graders thought so.  Today we received our handheld computers for the year and learned the basics of how to operate them, including using the stylus, beaming, and basic apps.

We also started a sewing project (yes, sewing!) just like Leon in our read-aloud story!  Mrs. Young demonstrated how to thread a needle, use a pattern, and create a rainbow-colored line design on our sewing cards that were handed out to us.

With our other special classes and more review of the rules and procedures for this school year, our day was jam-packed full.  We did, however, continue to work on our kingdom flags, mottos, and chants.  5A will now be known as the Kingdom of the GENUINE JESTERS!  (A joke and challenge along the way will never lead to a boring day!)

We'll meet the other two kingdoms on Friday.

Today's culminating activity is one where few students will forget the rules and procedures:
"How to play SILENT BALL."  We look forward to many competitive matches in the year to come.

5th graders are Handy with Handhelds!

Bet you never thought sewing would be what you would learn about in fifth grade!

Not an "animile," but still a fun project!
