More and more Palms! Handhelds seem to excite each and every
fifth grade young lord and lady. Today we set up our personal
business cards in "Contacts" and beamed them to our
classmates.
Congratulations on a successful first homework
challenge! Every fifth grader brought their homework to
school. This included researching a topic dealing with the Middle
Ages and sharing the new information learned with the class. We
heard and saw some great presentations- including PowerPoints, castle
models, DVD clips, speeches, and posters. We learned a lot about
this amazing time in history, as well!
Next on our Quest of learning was
the construction of small "catapults" from which we could
successfully launch marshmallows, cotton balls, or beans. No, this
wasn't to aim at our teachers, but rather to "siege" the castle
walls and try and prove the best aim. The winning catapult from each
kingdom will compete in tomorrow's Medieval Tournament against the other
two kingdoms. We were given instructions, but many of us experimented
and tried additional tricks or methods to try to better our
catapult. 5A's "Baby Canny" created by Michaela, Lizzie,
and Andrew was the winner. Good luck launching tomorrow!
A final, important
task of today, was the looking ahead to next week and filling in our
schedules. Starting Monday, we'll need to know which class to go to
and when to begin our apprenticeships in the various subject areas.
Our schedules should be kept in the front of our three ring binders real
close to our planners.
Remember to wear your armor and
report to the castle walls on time tomorrow... our Medieval Tournament
will take place in full glory!
