Barnum and Bailey
Ladies and Gentlemen boys and girls, children of all ages now presenting the inventors of the three-ring circus!
Hi, I am P.T. Barnum, and I am James Bailey. I did own the American Museum. Some of my exhibits included, Jumbo, who was an elephant that was 11 feet tall and weighed 6 ton, I also had Tom Thumb, who was a midget that was 2 feet tall and preformed for me. I had many more exhibits including the Fejee mermaid that made me a very famous showman. Unfortunately I had to go to jail because I printed many illegal newspapers. He also became the mayor of New York City, until he met me, James Bailey. Together we invented the Three Ring Circus. Because people liked are circus so much we needed to make it larger. Then people were telling us it was almost too big, but we liked it huge. We preformed our “Greatest Show on Earth” in Lincoln and Omaha, among many other places. Some people say their life is like a Three Ring Circus. But for us it was real!
