Did you know that I learned to read before I was three years old? I am Clara Barton. I once had a dog that helped me nurse my brother back to health. This experience gave me the passion to become a front line nurse in the Civil War. After the war I became sick and I went to Europe to rest up and become well again. There I learned about the Red Cross. When I was well again I went back to the U.S. and started the American Red Cross. Today millions of people are helped everywhere by the Red Cross. Helping others is fun I hope you become a nurse someday too.
