Ruby Bridges

Did you know that a lady told me “I’m going to poison you some way, some how”? Did you know that I saw a black doll in a coffin? Hi, I’m Ruby Bridges. I’m a girl who went intergraded school during the 1960’s. There they would yell and threaten me. One day someone wrote NIGGER on the front side of the school, and then they threw a tomato at the word. In 2-ond grade my teacher made fun of my Mississippi accent. But I stayed tough, proud and didn’t let these awful things get me down. Later in life I started a school that anyone could go to called the Ruby Bridges Foundation.  Now I travel around the U.S. talking to kids and help them with their problems, especially about getting along with others with difference. So rember,” treat others as you would want to be treated “ and don’t let harmful words get to you. I didn’t.
