PLAINVIEW - Services for Dorothy Lichty, 66, Plainview, will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's Catholic Church with burial in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the church with a 7 p.m. rosary under direction of Ashburn Funeral Home.
She died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Faith Regional Health Services following a six-month battle with pancreatic cancer
Dorothy, the daughter of Lambert Sr. and Agnes (Sindelar) Belina, was born Oct. 6, 1942, in Colfax County near Leigh. She began her education in a Stanton County rural school and later attended Sacred Heart School in Norfolk and schools in Madison and Tilden.
Dorothy graduated from O'Neill St. Mary's High School (1960) and Briar Cliff College in Sioux City where she earned her teaching degree (1964). Following college, she taught in elementary schools in Omaha, Osmond and Plainview and she spent 14 years as a stay-at-home mom (1970-1984), returning to the classroom in the fall of 1984. Dorothy retired from teaching in May 2008.
Dorothy Belina and Dennis Lichty were married Aug. 5, 1967, at St. Wenceslaus Church in Dodge. She had been a Plainview resident for the past 41 years.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law and grandparents.
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; her children, Anthony and Sarah Lichty, Fremont, Tara and Vince Tucker, McCook Lake, S.D., Tiffany Lichty, Plainview, Tracy and Patricia Lichty, Norfolk, and Tawna and Jeff Luschen, Norfolk; and her grandchildren, Eleanor and Miriam Lichty, Treyla and Traven Tucker, Kaden Lichty, and Tirany and Janicka Luschen. Dorothy is also survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Lambert Jr. and Dee Belina, Hay Springs, and Raymond and Connie Belina, Norfolk, nieces and nephews and their families and many other relatives and friends.
